Paul Presented to the Engineering Leadership Team for JetStar Airways on how to think about the future in order to improve their levels of innovation.
The key points were:
- That complicated skills and ways of thinking become so deeply embedded in us they are very hard to change.
- You cannot predict the future in complex systems so there is a need for experiments to “feel” your way forward.
- That you can anticipate some aspects of the future by understanding patterns of change.
- That in many cases to improve levels of innovation we do not have to get people to change, we need to change the systems to harness the deep expertise that people already possess.
